Beyond oral medications: how to live better with Parkinson

ITA UK QUESTION TIME
The Question Time is part of the Virtual Hospital, an innovative, patient-centred, collaborative medicine project started in Italy by Parkinzone onlus during the COVID-19 pandemic.
We have managed to transform the closure in openness: the Italian and British communities of patients, caregivers, doctors and therapists have got together with a creative and resilient spirit. The relations we built healed, protected and transformed us all.
Welcome to the Italian/UK Question Time!
New activities to improve Parkinson's patients' quality of life
ParkinZone Onlus, Moving the Parkinson's Community
Art, sport, movement for Parkinson's patients and caregivers
ParkinZone Onlus was founded in 2006 in Rome. The charity, chaired by dr. Nicola Modugno, aims at using arts, sports and movement to develop care and rehabilitation strategies for Parkinson's patients and caregivers.
Our activities focus on the organization of art workshops aimed at providing alternative rehabilitation experiences to patients, in order to improve their overall quality of life. Two research studies (Modugno et al., 2010 and Mirabella et al, 2017) have provided evidence that these activities have a significant impact on aspects such as depression and apathy and, with constant practice, also on motor symptoms. The activities don't require any previous skill and are suitable for persons of all ages.
